We’re on the lookout for an experienced Analyst II to perform paper, board and box testing; and deliver accurate testing by following predefined work procedures in the laboratory for product quality control, research or product development purposes. To perform calibration verifications for instruments against known laboratory systems and standards. Analyst II spends nearly 100% of their work time on data generation in support of projects, paper testing services and product support.
This role reports into the Senior Engineer: Paper Sciences
As an Analyst you will be responsible for:
- Perform paper testing as per standard testing procedures and methods daily.
- Generate data and conduct basic data analysis.
- Produce test reports and short technical notes.
- Contribute in multi-disciplinary project teams.
- Maintain and suggest improvements to methods and procedures within the quality system (including equipment calibration).
- Participate in interlaboratory and proficiency testing schemes.
- Participate in departmental and internal audits.
- Assist in the management of equipment service schedules and maintain consumable stock levels.
- Assist with instrument troubleshooting and service requests.
- Monitor the laboratory atmospheric conditions daily and report any deviations to the laboratory supervisor.
- Training of technicians and interns.
- Contribute to the maintenance of quality system documentation and records in accordance with ISO17025 standards.
- Follow appropriate documents/procedures for safe operation of laboratory equipment when conducting laboratory tests.
- Participate in safety meetings to share safety moments and contribute to the safety improvement of the business unit.
What are we looking for?
- Grade 12 with Mathematics and Physical Science coupled with 5 years paper, board and box testing experience OR Diploma in Analytical Chemistry or Chemical engineering coupled with 2 years paper, board and box testing experience OR 10 years, board and box testing experience.
- Knowledge of SANAS technical signatory requirements will be advantageous.
