Minimum requirements for the role:

• Must have a Grade 12 or equivalent
• A Trade Tested Diesel Mechanic qualification is essential
• Minimum of 3 – 5 years’ post trade practical experience within a similar environment will be required
• Sound knowledge of Agricultural Equipment, mechanical machinery operation and maintenance, including hydraulics are important
• Must have knowledge of gear pump manufacturing.
• Welding experience is advantageous.
• Must have the ability to diagnose faults, strips and re-assemble machines without supervision.
• Must have a valid EB1 driver’s license
• Good communication skills, specifically in English and Afrikaans, with the ability to interface with internal and external stakeholders of all levels, will be required

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Servicing, repairing and overhauling the mechanical parts of agricultural equipment and vehicles.
• Ensuring that all work sheets for services rendered, are done according to company policies and procedures.
• Complying with all Health and Safety standards.
• Completing all guarantee claims and claims information correctly.
• Training and mentoring all relevant personnel regarding the maintenance department policies and procedures.
• Motivating staff and presenting strong management skills.
• Conducting stock control and reporting.
• Ensuring that parts are bought and sourced at the most competitive prices.
• Ensuring that work done by 3rd parties on vehicles is necessary and appropriately priced.
• Ensuring that essential spare parts are always on hand.
• Planning and recording parts inventories.
• Liaising with internal departments, suppliers and clients.
